Comparative analyses across various yeast species have identified numerous large-scale rewiring events throughout evolutionary history. However, the mechanisms underlying these events and the forces driving them remain insufficiently understood. Furthermore, most research on transcriptional rewiring has concentrated on cis-regulatory sequences. To address these gaps, I intend to focus on trans-acting factors and their functional roles in elucidating the driving forces behind transcriptional rewiring. The fungal iron-regulatory networks, which exhibit substantial transcriptional rewiring signatures spanning several hundred million years of diversity, offer promising targets for investigations aiming to address these questions. I will begin this project with a transcriptional activator, Sef1, a potential key player in the evolution of fungal iron-regulatory networks, and aims to expand the investigation to more transcription factors (TFs) and yeast species.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"tab_laboratory-overview\" class=\"panel entry-content\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"tab-laboratory-overview\">\n<div
